The colors of summer are popping up just in time for the pool to open. TMI Coatings, Inc. (TMI) recently painted the exterior of one open flume slide, one enclosed tube slide, and one mushroom feature at the City of Fremont Splash Station, restoring the vibrant colors and protecting them from the continuous outside elements.

Procedure:

  1. The owner provided TMI with colors to closely match the existing colors.
  2. TMI covered and protected all areas not getting coated.
  3. The exterior of the slides and mushroom were sanded to remove the loose existing coating. Silicone and wax remover were applied to ensure a clean surface before applying paint.
  4. Imron 3.5 HG was applied to the slides and mushroom by brush and rollers in owner-designated colors. TMI elected to brush and roll to ensure no overspray occurred during the project.

Outcome:

At the conclusion of the project, Nicolas Hansen, the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Fremont, said, “TMI Coatings worked with our Parks & Recreation staff and gave them updates throughout the project. TMI had to fight quite a bit of wind, but the service received was good. Our Parks & Recreation staff didn’t have any complaints. Thank you for finishing up the project in a timely matter.” The slides and mushroom feature are now protected and will be vivid for many years.
