Coating Storage Tanks for Global Innovation Company

A global innovation company in the Midwest requested that TMI Coatings Inc. (TMI) coat the exterior of four above ground storage tanks. To abide by local regulations and the Wisconsin DNR, they were required to remove the rust from the tanks due to potential contamination of ground water. After arriving on site for the initial site visit, TMI identified the areas of excessive corrosion, devised a plan, and executed the plan. After completion of the project the contact stated, “you guys showed professionalism and as long as that standard is held, I don’t have any criticism.” TMI has the knowledge and experience to complete your project safely and on time.

Procedure:

  • TMI water blasted the tanks
  • Further hand/power tool cleaned heavily corroded areas to remove surface rust
  • TMI applied two full coats of rust-inhibitive epoxy primer by brush and roller
  • TMI applied polyurethane enamel finish for long term UV and corrosion protection

Outcome:

The four storage tanks are now no longer an issue for the global innovation company, plus the Wisconsin DNR is satisfied that the rust is no longer an issue. When you combine the right surface preparation with the correct coating system, the result is a long-lasting system. This coating system TMI used has been a staple for TMI throughout its 35 plus years in industrial painting and restoration.
