Concrete floor restoration is one of TMI Coatings’ (TMI) specialties. For over 35 years, TMI has restored old, broken down, deteriorated floors back into the surfaces they once were. TMI is an industrial painting and restoration contractor. Our field men are skilled at installing a variety of coatings and linings at manufacturing plants.
A large food manufacturer had beaten down their concrete floors with years of industrial use. The concrete substrate was rough, uneven, and eroded. With severe deterioration setting in, the floor was becoming unsafe and hindering productivity; concrete floor restoration was needed. TMI was contracted to assist with this project.
- Using walk behind vacuum shot blaster and hand-held grinding disks, TMI mechanically abraded the precast concrete and tile substrate to clean, abrade and prepare the areas for stronger coating adhesion. We removed all loose and delaminating old flooring.
- Restored eroded areas and filled joints to the surrounding plane by using an epoxy repair mix. Trowel applied epoxy mortar to fill areas prior to applying thick floor film topping.
- Applied cementitious urethane flooring at ¼” thickness for longevity and durability in this harsh environment.
The concrete floors are now fully restored. The new cementitious urethane flooring is designed to protect the concrete from chemical attacks, corrosion, impact, and thermal shock. The floor topping TMI applied is low odor, durable, and highly suitable for industrial use. The final finish has non-slip for added safety. The repeated exposure to hot oil and steam found in many food production facilities will not cause pitting, cracking, or crazing of the floor topping. The concrete floor is protected for years to come.
