Cyclone/Floor Juncture Repair at Kerry Ingredients

Kerry Ingredients in Rochester, MN expanded their production and requested TMI Coatings, Inc. (TMI) to seal the cyclone/floor juncture to reduce the risk of water seeping into the rooms below. When the general contractor installed the cyclones, there was a noticeable gap at the concrete floor/cyclone juncture. TMI was up to the task to eliminate this leaking hazard for Kerry Ingredients.
First, TMI abraded the concrete and stainless steel surfaces to ensure the adhesion of the new coating system utilizing Hilti diamond grinders with vacuum attachments were used to collect all airborne contaminants. Next, we installed a new backer rod to fill the large gap. We applied a bonding primer then a trowel-grade elastomeric sealant that will expand and contract and is suitable for the 160°F environment. The coating was applied approximately 6” on the stainless and approximately on the floor 6”, which provided the customer with a watertight seal.

All of the work was completed neatly and professionally. TMI has completed numerous projects for Kerry Ingredients throughout MN, WI, IL, and IN. TMI has completed waterproofing, flooring, installing food-grade FIBERLIFE on their walls, protective coatings on ceilings, and tank linings.
