Food Processing Plant Receives New Epoxy Coating

TMI Coatings, Inc. (TMI) was contracted by Zummo Meat, a food processing plant located in Texas. In one of their facilities, the company was experiencing flaking paint, damaged bricks, and missing mortar that needed to be replaced. TMI had a solution, restore the brick and mortar, plus install a new epoxy coating system. Upon completion, the owner was very happy with the work TMI completed and said, “the crew has done a fantastic job. Thank you for keeping us updated and for the great work.”

TMI was asked to remove all of the failed coatings from the brick wall, restore missing mortar, and provide durability with a new epoxy coating application.

Procedure:

  • Mechanically abraded all walls with diamond grinders to clean and roughen the surface for new coating adhesion.
  • Filled in any missing mortar between the bricks.
  • Restored all other cracks, fractures, and irregularities in the wall.
  • Applied an epoxy coating system suitable for incidental food contact.

Outcome:

This epoxy coating system is mildew resistant, and provides excellent resistance to chemicals, abrasion, and corrosion. Additionally, this coating is suitable for high-moisture environments. Because of these properties and more, this coating system has been installed in many food processing facilities will great success. This project was completed safely and on-time.
