The floors of industrial facilities are often battered, damaged, and abused by large machinery every day, thus requiring the need for industrial flooring. These concrete floors can only take so much before they get progressively worse. The proper floor topping can not only restore your flooring but prevent further damage in the future. TMI Coatings was contracted to restore and coat over 10,000 sq. ft. of industrial aisle ways commonly used for forklifts, carts, and heavy machinery over the 4th of July holiday weekend. For whatever your concrete floors are used for, TMI has the right products to protect your investment.
Procedure:
- Vacuumed steel shot blast and used Hilti diamond grinders to roughen the surface to ensure proper adhesion of subsequent coats.
- Restored all cracked and eroded areas at floor joints and in the aisles prior to coating.
- Applied 100% solids cementitious urethane floor topping to all production aisle ways at 3/16” thickness.
- A final top coat was applied to improve color stability. Aggregate was added for the desired non-skid for safety.
Outcome:
The cementitious urethane flooring protects concrete from chemicals, corrosion, impact, and thermal shock, making it widely used in industrial plants. It is specifically designed to resist the effects of acids, alkalis, fuel, oils, and solvents. This specific coating is seamlessly applied over concrete and has no significant odor during installation. The final finish is non-skid for slip-resistance for safety in a high-traffic area. The facility manager commented on our crew’s performance, “everything went well. The men that were on site were very good and left the area clean.”
