Painting in a Water Treatment Plant

TMI Coatings recently showed how a routine plant maintenance project far from the public eye can provide water to 7,000 customers across a 14.8 square mile service area in which agricultural pollution has made water quality a major concern.   Our job specification was a simple matter of painting walls, piping and floors in the filter well house of the municipal water plant.  But the real opportunity was helping Albert Lea’s utility department fulfill its credo of “Being Responsible.”  To do so, we introduced special precautions during surface preparation to keep dust and debris out of the filtration equipment.  And we advised Utility Superintendent Brad Pirsig on coatings best suited to reduce corrosion and improve visibility in the plant area.
