TMI Coatings, Inc. (TMI) was recently contracted to coat the interior of a steel sump tank on the interior of a facility. The sump tank was experiencing corrosion as the old system had failed and started to flake off. Time was the biggest factor in completing this project, the customer couldn’t be without this piece of equipment long as their process water ran through the tank. TMI and the owner devised a plan to complete this work on time, safely, and in a quality manner.
- Due to this tank being inside the facility, TMI utilized mechanical diamond grinders with vacuum attached shrouds to minimize dust and to create a new anchor profile for new coating adhesion.
- TMI crew members then applied two full coats of a thick-film urethane elastomer to the tank interior to create a seamless, monolithic membrane suitable for constant immersion.
After the job, the customer’s representative, Nathan Caauwe, stated that “everything pretty much went as they expected”. Another successful job completed by TMI on schedule, safely, and promptly.
