TMI Removes Lead Based Paint From Fire Water Tanks In Iowa

Fire-Water Tanks are commonly insulated to maintain fire water temperatures above freezing. Sprayed-in-place urethane foam insulation is widely chosen as an insulation system at an R-value of approximately 6/inch.

TMI Coatings, Inc. (TMI) insulated a Fire Water Storage Tank 52′ diameter x 32′ tall. 1½” of sprayed-in-place urethane foam insulation provides an R-value of 9.

TMI removed the old insulation system, vacuum blasted the tank’s exterior to remove the hazardous lead-based paint, completed pit filling and weld repairs, and installed new sprayed-in-place urethane foam insulation with a gray topcoat. The interior of the tank was sandblasted to remove the old failed lining, and a new epoxy tank lining was installed.
