TMI Coatings, Inc. (TMI) recently restored a 110’ tall water town in the City of Virginia. The original paint was deteriorated. Years of weathering will inevitably erode all coatings.

Procedure:
- Prepared all surfaces by abrasive-blasting to SSPC-SP7 standards to remove all flaking urethane paint.
- Applied a tie coat of Sherwin-Williams Recoatable Epoxy to improve the adherence of the new coating.
- Applied one intermediate coat, followed by a final topcoat of acrylic polyurethane.
- Installed a non-skid walkway with a safety handrail.
Outcome:
TMI Coatings restored this water tower to its original condition. The structure stands tall in its original bright blue color, and the new coating system will provide long-lasting durability and resistance to corrosion, rain, and all other types of weather. TMI completed this job safely and on-time.
