Procedure:
- To seal along the ground floor/silo juncture of several metal silos used to store plastic pellets, TMI began by removing the loose caulk and debris and then cleaning the metal substrate.
- We then primed the surface with a rust-inhibiting epoxy primer.
- We applied two full coats of a urethane-based waterproof coating to the floor/wall juncture approximately one foot high onto the steel and one foot out onto the concrete.
Outcome:
The urethane-based waterproof coating adheres and bridges gaps between common construction materials such as concrete, steel, and wood. The coating system has good chemical resistance toward acids, oxidizing agents, and also alkali solutions. This coating expands and contracts and therefore will not crack, chip or peel due to temperature changes.
