Digester Tank Linings for a Concrete Company

Dennis Pipping, the owner, was quite satisfied with the digester tank lining project, “The workmanship was very good. I thought TMI did a good job. Overall, I was pleased.”

A Midwestern concrete company hired TMI Coatings, Inc. (TMI) to abrasive blast and line three different methane digester tanks. A high-quality tank lining enhances the ability to harvest gases to utilize for energy. However, methane gas is corrosive to the concrete substrate so to protect the areas above the immersion line a protective lining is ideal. As with every project, TMI Coatings took extensive precautions to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

Procedure:

  • Set up air ventilation and safe access/egress to access the digester tank safely.
  • Thoroughly sandblasted interior walls 3’ down and ceilings of digester tanks.
  • Spray apply and back roll two coats of Devoe Bar-Rust.

Outcome:

All three digester tanks required the same procedure. The total project area was over 170,000 square feet – all of which was underground. TMI was able to complete this project safely and in a timely manner despite the size and complexity of the work. Our staff takes pride in solving problems for our customers.
