Lining Wastewater Pits at Biofuel Facility in Midwest

TMI Coatings completed lining wastewater pits and a containment area at a biofuel producing facility in the Midwest.  In the large containment area there was a deteriorated sheet membrane with punctures that the customer wanted removed.  The owner wanted a seamless 100% adhered lining to reduce the risk of chemical seepage. TMI removed the old membrane and mechanically abraded the concrete to clean and roughen; all cracked and eroded areas were restored.  TMI then applied FIBERLIFE on the entire floor and up the sides approximately 4′ high.  The lining system TMI installed was a seamless vinyl ester with mat reinforcement therefore there would be no concerns regarding deterioration and alligatoring/cracking like the rubber membrane.  The same coating was applied a couple years ago at another plant for the same company and Eric Hunnicutt said, “the coating on the outside HCL dike we had done a couple years ago is very sufficient.  It is doing its job.  We are happy with it.”
