Concrete Silo Waterproofing and Sealing
TMI Coating’s, Inc. (TMI) silo roof coating is tough and durable. The coating can be applied to metal and concrete to provide long-term waterproof protection for years due to it being a chemically cured product. It is made to withstand ponding water unlike water-based products. With a high elongation factor, this protective coating expands and contracts, therefore will not crack, chip or peel due to changing temperatures. The coating system can be applied below freezing allowing year-round installation.
Silo Waterproofing and Sealing Process
To properly assess the needs of your silo roof, TMI will review your current roofing system. All failed or delaminated roofing will be removed; well-adhered to remain.
- Surface preparation includes high-pressure washing to remove dirt, dust, and other containments as well as any loose or delaminated existing coating. TMI will mechanically abrade the entire surface to ensure adhesion of the new coating system.
- Any areas where the concrete is eroded, TMI to remove to sound substrate then use an epoxy or cementitious mortar to restore to the surrounding plane.
- One coat of epoxy or bonding primer will be applied to all bare concrete or steel.
- Seal around all penetrations, gaps, and small voids using scrim cloth or mat reinforcement embedded into the liquid-applied coating for a thorough, watertight seal.
- Two full coats of protective coating are applied in a heavy-duty, thick-film manner. Aggregate is incorporated for slip resistance for safety.
TMI’s silo roof coating system provides a seamless, monolithic waterproof membrane over your silo roof that will be the long-term solution to your water intrusion problems.
