TMI Coatings, Inc. (TMI) is a painting and restoration contractor that has successfully completed numerous silo restoration and coating projects.  In areas where there is damaged or spalling concrete, we sound out to remove any loose or punky concrete.  If there is any exposed rebar, we prepare the surface and prime using a metal primer to prevent further corrosion.  TMI then applies a polymer-modified cementitious mortar to restore the surface to the surrounding plane.  The mortar used provides further corrosion protection to prevent future expansion of the re-bar, thus reducing the likelihood of spalling.  A coating is applied over all repaired areas to protect against future moisture penetration and further seal the repaired areas.  This process has been used with great success on concrete silos across the Midwest.
