TMI Coatings recently completed a water tower renovation project for the City of Virginia, which is located in northern Minnesota. The water tower is 110’ tall with a 55’ diameter bowl. The team prepped all exterior surfaces by abrasive blasting to SSPC-SP7 to remove the loose and peeling urethane paint.
The TMI team then applied a tie coat of Sherwin-Williams Recoatable Epoxy to improve the adherence of the new coating. An additional (second) intermediate coat followed by a finish coat of Sherwin-Williams Acrolon was applied. With painting complete, the team installed a non-skid walkway with a safety handrail.
