An assisted living facility contacted TMI Coatings regarding coating several residential balconies located outdoors; the railings on the balconies were failing due to extensive corrosion including some breaking off at the base. The owner replaced all the vertical structural steel posts of the railings and had TMI coat around the bases, coat the entire patio areas to prevent water damage and paint the outside facing fascia.
TMI mechanically abraded around all the steel railing posts and the entire patio with handheld diamond grinders to remove loose, delaminating existing coatings and to prepare the surfaces for a new coating system. TMI then applied a waterproofing traffic deck coating to the outside concrete patios. To reduce moisture from entering the concrete patios a waterproof, traffic bearing membrane system was applied. This coating also offers corrosion resistance around the steel railing posts. Aggregate was incorporated into the traffic deck coating for slip resistance for safety. For the outside fascia of each deck, TMI applied a quality coating to provide corrosion protection and for aesthetics.
